Aggie Muster is a time honored tradition at Texas A&M University. Muster is a time for Aggies world-wide to honor Aggies that have passed away during the year. This is commemorated by the Roll Call For The Absent. During the Roll Call Aggies light candles, and friends and family of Aggies that have died during the year answer “Here” when the name of their loved one is called. Following Roll Call the Ross Volunteers give a 21-gun salute and buglers play Silver Taps, which is an especially evocative version of the military’s mournful Taps.
Campus muster is also the 50th class reunion for the corresponding graduating class. The campus muster is held at Reed Arena and has over 12,000 Aggies in attendance every year. Smaller Musters are held in over 300 locations world-wide, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and anywhere Aggies are deployed as part of the US military.
